Pamela Gardner is the weekend meteorologist for the Forecast 8 team. She joined WISH-TV in November of 2011. Before returning to Indianapolis, she was the morning meteorologist for WTHI-TV in Terre Haute.
In June 2009 she first began her career as the weekend weather forecaster and weekday reporter at WTHI-TV. She was nominated for a professional Emmy in 2009 for her work on "Connections Live" that aired on WIPB-TV.
Her passion for TV and weather really came together after taking a communications class at Lawrence North High School. She has always loved the ever-changing weather and news world so she decided to study both in college. In 2009, she completed a B.A. in telecommunications and a minor in meteorology from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. She completed the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University in 2011.
Her favorite events to cover are the typical Midwest spring severe storms, and she tries to storm chase whenever the opportunity arises.
At Ball State, she was the forecaster for the Emmy award-winning student newscast, NewsWatch for four years. She was a forecaster and backpack journalist for NewsLink Indiana, and a host on the Emmy award-winning Connections Live, which both aired on WIPB in East Central Indiana.
Pamela stays active in the American Meteorological Society, the National Weather Association, the community and her church.
In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband, family, friends and playing fetch with their dog, Champ. She enjoys traveling, playing sports, cheering on the Pacers and Colts and attending the Indianapolis 500 every year she can.
