Indianapolis, IN – The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has awarded WISH-TV two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for Overall Excellence and its Website. The Murrow awards recognize work of the highest quality produced by radio, television and online news organizations around the world.
"These awards reflect our everyday mission to deliver news to central Indiana viewers across all our platforms," said Jeff White, president and general manager. The awards represent a news operation's commitment on all journalistic facets, across all news delivery platforms."
The Overall Excellence award reflects the depth and scope of the winning news organization. It encompasses all aspects of the recipient's newscasts, website and coverage, including breaking news, continuing coverage and other work. RTNDA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow's pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
WISH-TV will now advance to the national Edward R. Murrow Awards competition, which will be judged during the summer.
Last weekend, the Indiana Associated Press Broadcasters Association awarded WISH-TV's 24-Hour News 8 Indiana's Outstanding News Operation, Best Newscast, and WISHTV.com as Best Website. WISH-TV received a total of 17 IAPBA awards, more than any other local station in Indiana.
