INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Gr8 Health success can hinge on teamwork.
That's the hope of two companies that are pairing up in central Indiana.
One of the companies is well-known, and the other may soon be, too, if its vision of healthier workplaces takes hold.
"Right now we're just at the cusp," said Travis Summit of Green BEAN Delivery , as he set up a tent outside his company's first-ever corporate client. "The very beginning. And we're looking to get more involved as we go along."
The client is Finish Line, the Indianapolis-based retail giant.
Green BEAN delivers organic produce and other staples, much like a rolling grocery store.
Under the new partnership, Green BEAN will bring participating Finish Line employees a bag of fresh produce every week.
Kim Kurz, the benefits manager for Finish Line, said the idea grew from a group of employees who gather together to find ways to improve the company's collective health.
"And somebody on the wellness committee had used Green BEAN delivery just at home and they suggested we contact them, and we did," Kurz recalled. "And they were very excited to partner with it to offer to our employees."
Each week, the employees get a message telling them what to expect in the upcoming delivery. If they wish, they can request more of some items and less or none of others. But workers like Matt Dillard say he likes to trust the variety.
"It helps my family to branch out in what vegetables to try," Dillard told us. "They have some things I wouldn't pick up in the store."
Dillard is also a believer in the idea that healthier workers make for a stronger business, especially in Finish Line's field of athletic-based shoes and clothes.
"In the business we're in, it's a good selling point to our customers. If you have a healthy person selling you an athletic shoe, you're much more apt to buy from them or take their advice on something," Dillard explained.
For Green BEAN, the partnership is a departure from business as usual.
Until recently, the company has been almost exclusively about home delivery. But company leaders are branching out in several ways; an earlier Gr8 Health segment covered one of the company's other new ventures.
And now the corporate service is starting with Green BEAN hoping to add more companies and deliver a culture of Gr8 health.
