INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Regular exercise is an important health goal for seniors.
According to Gr8 Health partner American Senior Communities, seniors who are active reduced premature death from causes such as stroke, heart attack, and diabetes.
ASC recommend seniors exercise at least 30 minutes, three times a week.
Senior health experts from ASC said exercise can:
- Help older people remain independent
- Help in the recovery from illness
- Reduces the risk of disease
Exercise for seniors can take on many forms including walking, dancing, cycling, swimming, weight training, or doing active chores like sweeping, cleaning windows, or gardening.

On Tuesday, Indianapolis Police Chief Rick Hite will promote 23 officers. Three sergeants will be elevated to the rank of lieutenant. Twenty patrol officers will be promoted to the rank of sergeant.
