Speedway, 500 Festival events begin

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis Motor Speedway is coming alive again for May, and there are multiple events families can take part in this weekend.

Some of the events are at IMS and others are in Indianapolis as part of the 500 Festival.

Following is a list of what’s going on this weekend:

Green Flag Celebration
Friday, 10 a.m., Monument Circle, Downtown Indianapolis

Celebration of Automobiles
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Indianapolis Motor Speedway

500 Festival Kids Day
Saturday, noon to 4 p.m., Monument Circle, Downtown Indianapolis

500 Festival Rookie Run
Saturday, 1 p.m., Ohio and Meridian streets, Downtown Indianapolis

Indianapolis 500 Practice
Sunday, noon to 6 p.m., Indianapolis Motor Speedway
