Emmy award winning sports anchor, Anthony Calhoun, also known as "A.C." by his colleagues, is the Sports Director at WISH-TV. A.C., also awarded central Indiana's "Favorite Sportscaster" by both Indianapolis Woman magazine and NUVO weekly, joined WISH-TV in August of 1998. In addition to his daily reporting and anchoring duties, A.C. also keeps busy hosting several highly rated local sports shows including a fan favorite, Sports Locker, seen every Sunday at 11pm on WISH-TV.
During Colts season, viewers can watch A.C. on Sunday mornings as well, hosting The Chuck Pagano show at 11:00am. As well as Countdown to Kickoff, a Colts pre-game show at 11:30am.
Off the set, A.C. spends his time helping our community. Every June, he raises money for inner city youth by organizing the Horizon's Golf Classic. AC has helped raised closed to One Million Dollars since overseeing the golf outing. This event, which has become one of the premiere golf fundraisers in Indiana, attracts scores of local athletes, celebrities, and business & community leaders. It is his tireless dedication to our community that has also earned him one of the state's biggest honors. Governor Mitch Daniels recently presented A.C with the Achievement in Motion Award for community service.
Before joining WISH-TV, Calhoun worked as weekend sports anchor/reporter at WTVH-TV, the CBS affiliate in Syracuse.
When he isn't working as central Indiana's busiest sports anchor on WISH-TV, A.C. serves as a play by play announcer for NCAA Basketball on the ESPN Television networks. He is also the Television play-by-play voice of Butler Basketball on WNDY.
He graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism. During his time at Syracuse University, A.C. was a Remembrance Scholar, which is the highest award given by the prestigious New York-based university. A.C. has also been recognized as one of the most influential people in Indianapolis in the latest edition of Who's Who in Black Indianapolis. It's his strong passion for his work at WISH-TV is equal to that of his desire to give back to the community.
A.C., a native of Evansville, is a strong believer in the "all work and no play" philosophy; however Anthony plays as hard as he works. He can be found smacking one down the line on the tennis court or digging out of a sand trap.
