West Point graduate and Emmy award winning journalist Jay Hermacinski joined WISH-TV in April 2006 as a general assignment reporter.
During his 15 plus years as a journalist, Jay has been recognized for Best Spot News Reporting by the local chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Associated Press, and the Society of Professional Journalists. Prior to joining the 24-Hour News 8 team, Jay worked as an investigative reporter at the FOX station in Memphis, TN. He also reported and anchored in South Bend, Indiana, Savannah, Georgia and Columbus, Georgia.
Jay is proud to be an Army veteran and West Point graduate. Prior to his career in broadcast journalism, he rose through the ranks from Private to Infantry Captain. He served in the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington D.C., patrolled the Demilitarized Zone in Korea, and conducted training operations in Panama and Germany. His studies at the United States Military Academy focused on National Security and Public Affairs.
