Joy Dumandan anchors WISH-TV’s Daybreak. The Emmy-winning morning program can be seen weekdays from 5:00-7:00 a.m. on WISH-TV and 7:00-8:00 a.m.on MyINDY-TV.
In 2001, Joy joined WISH-TV As co-anchor for the 5:30 p.m. news and field anchor for the 11:00 p.m. news. She is an Emmy-nominated journalist and her reporting has been recognized by the
Indiana Associated Press.
Prior to WISH-TV, Joy was an anchor and reporter for the Fox News Channel in New York City, where she was involved in breaking coverage of major national and international news. Previously, Joy was a reporter with WBRE-TV in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where she provided extensive coverage of the TWA Flight 800 crash that included 21 victims from her station's area in Pennsylvania.
Joy began her professional broadcast career for the cable channel "America's Talking” (now MSNBC). She then moved to CNBC, where her duties included field producing assignments in New York and Los Angeles. Born and raised in New Jersey, Joy graduated from Montclair State University with a BA in Communication Studies.
Joy is involved in several community activities focusing on women’s and children’s issues. She sits on the board of directors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). She is also on the advisory board of Brooke’s Place, a not-for-profit organization that helps children and young adults through the grieving process after losing a loved one. Joy did a story on Brooke’s Place right after September 11, 2001 and that inspired her to become involved with the organization.
She is also active with the Pink Ribbon Connection, a not-for-profit organization helping breast cancer patients, survivors and their families. Look for Joy supporting their annual October fashion show featuring breast cancer survivors.
During Joy’s free time, she enjoys spending it with her family, traveling, cooking, shopping and working on her golf game. She is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.
