A familiar voice became a familiar face on WISH-TV'S Daybreak when Julie Patterson joined the Monday through Friday program as its in-studio traffic anchor. Julie, along with Chopper 8’s Keith McCutchen, keeps Hoosiers up-to-date and informed about potential snarls on the roadways and interstates on their commute to work.
Julie isn’t new to Indy traffic, she was half of the country’s first all-female flying traffic team from 1983 to 1985 in the WZPLicopter for WZPL FM. After spending six years as a DJ in the Dallas/Ft. Worth market, she moved back to Indianapolis in 1991. After all this, Julie, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, met and married a Hoosier. With more than a dozen years in the radio business, she was honored in 1994 by the American Women in Radio and Television as best on-air talent and then in 2000 by her alma mater Ball State University. Her picture hangs in the Communications building along with David Letterman’s and other honored alumni.
Julie is active in her east side community. She served on the Warren Township Human Relations Advisory Council, The Warren Township Safety Board before the merge with IFD, and is currently on the advisory council for WEDM radio.
An avid sportswoman, she runs, a lot, and is chairperson of the Will Power Run/Walk, an event that raises thousands of dollars annually for Riley Hospital for Children.
Julie and her husband Pat have three children and a Wheaten Terrier. Julie also likes to read, cook, and watch Survivor with her Ya Ya's on Thursday nights!
