I blame it on Pops.
You see, I wanted to be a dentist or a singer.
But Pops, as I affectionately call my Father, made me write.
I wrote about the time I caught tadpoles in a pond near my grandmother’s home in Arkansas. I wrote about my elementary school field trips. At 16, I wrote a letter to my parents demanding they extend my curfew. But if Pops, who happens to be an Indiana native, didn’t make me write, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn to how tell stories that impact Hoosiers. Writing those essays for Pops ignited my passion for exposing the truth and telling memorable stories. You can see my reports during the week and on Daybreak on Saturdays and Sundays.

I joined the 24 Hour News 8 team in August of 2010.
Prior to my assignment at WISH-TV, I served as an investigative reporter and weekend anchor at WNEM TV 5 in Saginaw, MI. I was also the reporter of a segment called Fugitive Files on WNEM TV 5’s sister station, WSMH FOX 66. My reports helped police capture more than 200 of the most wanted criminals in Mid-Michigan.
As the story goes, I started my journalism career in print at Michigan State University. Then, I wrote for the college paper. A quick side note: Butler fans, I’m still sad about Gordon Hayward’s three-pointer that led the Bulldogs to a victory over my Spartans during 2009’s final four game. Now, let’s move on.
My journey has also included one summer reporting for the Grand Rapids Press.
While still in college, I landed a reporting gig with the NBC affiliate, WILX Channel 10. The door at WILX opened after the news director saw some of my political reports for a government cable station, HOM TV Channel 21.
Born in Ohio, raised in Michigan, and now living in Indianapolis --- I’ve got a thing for the Midwest.
Central Indiana is my home away from home. I spent many of my childhood summers in Muncie, visiting relatives.
On a personal note, I love collecting greeting cards, playing the piano and working with children. I'm a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
My philosophy; "Everything happens for a reason, sometimes we just don't know the reason." At the end of the day, I work for you.
