INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Hoosiers truly helped Hoosiers this weekend in a big way during a very difficult time.

WISH-TV, MyINDY-TV & The Indianapolis Colts joined forces this weekend for a Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers campaign to help get much-needed assistance to Southern Indiana Communities torn apart by Friday’s tornado outbreak.

After the storms hit on Friday afternoon, phone banks were set up in the WISH-TV conference room Saturday evening.  Donations were received from 6:00 p.m. until midnight on Saturday, and then again on Sunday morning from 7:00 a.m. until Noon.

During those 11 hours, volunteers from WISH, The Colts, our Community Partners, family members and more helped work the phones to raise $221,390.36.

Colts owner Jim Irsay kicked things off with a $50,000 pledge. A number of other corporate gifts were received as well as more than $132,000 in individual gifts from Hoosiers wanting to help in any way possible.

The money will be sent to the Salvation Army and to the Red Cross to help in their disaster relief efforts.

Anyone still wanting to contribute may do so by sending a check or money order to:
The Indiana Disaster Relief Fund
c/o WISH-TV, 1950 North Meridian Street
Indianapolis, IN 46202.

You can also stop by any Huntington Bank branch to make a donation in person.  Click here to find a location near you.
