CHICAGO (WISH) - Steve Harvey’s face and name is known as the host of the daytime shows Family Feud and the Steve Harvey Show on MyINDY-TV 23. He's a man with many talents.

24-Hour News 8 reporter Daniel Miller sat down with Harvey in an exclusive interview at his Chicago studios to talk about his life in front of the camera and why he’s not stopping anytime soon.

Inside the NBC Center in Chicago, hundreds of people patiently wait for what critics are calling the hottest new show in town. Look around and you'll see the audience is mostly women and they're all waiting to see Steve Harvey.

Harvey tapes six shows a week in front of a live studio audience.

On last Thursday, Nov. 8, Harvey taped a show on bullying.

"I was bullied as a kid, but there was no cyber space, we handled the bullying different back then," Harvey said.

Harvey talked to 24-Hour News 8 about his life and career.

Born in Welch, W.Va., Harvey spent 27 years as a standup comedian. He's one of the original Kings of Comedy.

Although standup is in his past, Harvey said his new syndicated show gives him a huge platform.

"I think I have a unique platform ... I have a male perspective in daytime television. There's not a lot of men on daytime TV," Harvey said.

Harvey focuses his show on women and relationships.

"Coming from a male perspective on TV, being a husband, being a father, champion the women’s cause. I think that's a unique perspective and then on top of all that I'm funny," said Harvey.

The father of five keeps a busy schedule. On top of his television duties, Harvey is a best-selling author, actor, radio host, and entrepreneur.

And he doesn't have plans to stop.

"That's the gift. God gave me that. That funny. That's all God. I don't even know. I can be funny, man. That's made me a lot of money, them jokes," Harvey said.

He even has his own clothing line.

"I just think I've got my own spin on it; I like crossing patterns and stuff," he said. "Well you know, I've changed over the years. You know, my clothing line used to be a lot different. It was more fashion forward is the word I like to use. I wear a lot more conservative suits now, but I always like to have my personal flair to it."

Harvey said he doesn't even care what other men think.

"If women are OK with the way I look, that's who I dress for, women. I've always been that way," Harvey said.

What he loves most about what he does is being able to share it with his family.

"My joy is watching my sons and daughters get it. Watching them enjoy the fruits of all this work I do; that's really what makes me man. If I'm sitting at the edge of the pool on vacation with a cigar and my kids is in the pool having a good time or running up and down the beech, I'm cool," he said.

You can watch the Steve Harvey Show weekdays at 4 p.m. and Family Feud weekdays at 7 p.m. on our sister station MyINDY-TV 23.
