INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - As the flu creeps into more Indiana schools, athletic teams are feeling the pain.

The IHSAA told 24-Hour News 8 on Thursday that because of a general mass illness, 27% of their student body is out at Clinton Prairie High in Frankfort. School officials have decided to cancel classes on Friday, as well as, their Class A football game with Lafayette Central Catholic Friday night.

Flu is also affecting the Washington High football team. The school said around 30 players including several starters were absent from Wednesday's practice because of flu-like symptoms and other illnesses.

Players able to attend school Friday will be re-evaluated before kickoff at Mishawaka.

The team's coach does not expect it will be playing at full strength.

As 24-Hour News 8 reported Wednesday, flu forced Cornerstone Baptist Academy to close school Thursday and Friday.

It also forced the Lady Eagles volleyball team to cancel Friday's game which would have been their last match of the regular season.
