INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Marion County Health Department has started offering flu shots.
It usually kicks off its flu clinics in October, but instead started offering flu vaccinations last week.
It's in preparation for what may be an influx of people who will also want the H1N1 vaccines.
It also offered early flu shots for students returning to school.
"The CDC felt that they would try to have the vaccine out earlier even perhaps early enough in some of the private practitioner’s offices so that the flu vaccine could be given with back-to-school shots," said Janet Spoden an RN at Marion County Health Department.
Flu shots are different from H1N1 vaccinations.
No word on when it will come, but the health department is ready. It received two new refrigerators that will store the H1N1 vaccines.
