INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - This week is National Shaken Baby Syndrome Awareness Week.
Experts say one of the triggers that lead an adult to shake a
baby is crying.
On Daybreak Monday morning, Nena Ray with Clarian Health
brought in an artificial baby designed to highlight how the brain
is affected when a baby is shaken too hard.
She explained doctors will be able to tell if abuse is going
on.
"Usually one fall to the floor or off of a couch or off of a
bed doesn't cause all over bleeding of the brain. It's usually just
one little spot that might have a problem, but there's a complete
difference of the injury that we see in the brain if the baby was
shaken because it's all over bleeding," said Ray.
Clarian Health provides tips on ways to soothe a crying baby.
