INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The H1N1 vaccine is now available to anyone who wants it.
The state is distributing more than one-million doses of the vaccine to pharmacies, drug stores and doctors' offices.
State Health Commissioner Doctor Judy Monroe and Marion County Health Director Doctor Virginia Caine got their shots Thursday.
Dr. Caine said even though less people are getting sick. Hoosiers still need to get vaccinated to prevent another spike in cases.
“It is so important for everyone to get this H1N1 vaccine. When we see the greatest number of outbreaks for the flu it's usually in the dead of winter. We're talking anywhere between mid-January through February that we see our cases,” said Dr. Caine.
Most health insurance providers will cover the cost of the vaccine.
