Indiana Landmarks stages Treasure Hunt

On July 14, Indiana Landmarks stages Treasure Hunt, an exploration of the Old Northside that includes an antique and collectible market at Indiana Landmarks Center, yard sales throughout the historic district, and vintage games for families on the lawn at Morris-Butler House.

At Indiana Landmarks Center, 1201 Central Ave., more than 16 antique dealers will set up booths on the parking lot (indoors in the event of rain), with additional rummage and information booths.  Visitors to the free event will find music on the plaza and an art show in the gallery, with self-guided tours of the $19 million restoration.  Food trucks will help shoppers keep up their strength for hitting yard sales throughout the historic neighborhood.

Tours and vintage games and prizes for kids will be offered next door at Morris-Butler House, 1204 N. Park Ave. A scavenger hunt covers the block from Park to Central and 12th to 13th streets. If children help churn the ice cream, they get to eat the results.

The Treasure Hunt includes more than ten yard sales in the Old Northside historic district, including the big annual rummage sale at All Saints Episcopal Church at 16th and Central. The Old Northside boundaries are I-65 on the south to 16th Street on the north, and from Pennsylvania to Bellefontaine.

Treasure Hunt runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it’s all free!
