When looking for a good cleanser, Dr. Turkle suggests something that is going to be gentle, effective in washing away the dirt and grime and that is going to leave the protective barrier of the skin intact.  For most skin types a detergent type of cleanser will work as long as it's mild.  For dryer skin types, Turkle suggests something with more of a lotion base. She recommends avoiding the bar type of cleansers, since the stuff that makes bars tend to clog the pores.

The ABCs of Skin Care:

  • Cleanse
  • Exfoliate
  • Hydrate
  • Protect

Dr. Turkle also discusses sunscreen, the different types and the proper amount of sunscreen you should apply to your skin.

Sunscreen Tips:

  • Sun protection year round
  • At least SPF 15 with UVA coverage
  • Apply every two hours
  • Look for Skin Cancer Foundation Seal
