Marilyn (Lowe) Mellencamp was born on September 7,1928 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. On October 23, 1950, she married Richard Mellencamp. Together, she and Richard have 5 children- Ted,John, Joe, Janet and Laura, 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
After retiring from the postal service, Marilyn was a homemaker and an avid artist. Marilyn pursued painting seriously since she first took lessons from noted Nashville artist Fred Rigley in 1959.
She studied with many well-known artists including David Leffel of New York,Greg Kreutz in France, and Charles Groppie in Spain. Marilyn also attended the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis. Aside from being a painter.
Marilyn was laid to rest on January 20, 2012 at the age of 83.
