Summer Sun Care
How do I prepare for spending time in the summer sun?
• It’s important to protect your skin from the sun’s rays, especially when you’re spending more time outdoors under the intense summer sun. Choose a sunscreen with appropriate SPF protection/UVA coverage for your skin type and activities. Keep in mind any allergies or cosmetic concerns you might have.
• If you’re going to be in the water or playing sports, make sure your sunscreen is water resistant. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes prior to sun exposure, and reapply every two hours, even on cloudy days. And don’t forget to protect the delicate skin on your lips with a moisturizing lip balm!
• For even more protection, avoid sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and wear a hat, sunglasses and dark clothing.

What can I do to relieve painful sunburn?
• During the first 24 hours after sunburn, it is helpful to use a cool compress or take a cool bath.
• After 24 hours, you can also apply skin protectants such as Palmer’s® Cocoa Butter Formula® cream or lotion, Meijer Aloe Vera Moisturizing Lotion or Burt’s Bees® After Sun Aloe & Linden Flower Lotion on minor burns when there is no blistering.
