Announcing a 2-Day Yoga Workshop with Nationally-Known Yoga Instructor Author Meta Chaya Hirschl
Part of the 14th Annual Ann Katz Festival of Books and Arts, October 28-November
Sat & Sun, November 10 & 11
Yoga Workshop: Yoga & Body, Learning to Love the True Self, Including Your Beautiful Body
With Meta Chaya Hirschl, E-RYT 500 and author of Vital Yoga: A Sourcebook for Students and Teachers
Though we are constantly bombarded with images and messages that we’re not good enough, small enough or fit enough, yoga attendees will leave this practical workshop armed with a specific plan to start improving one’s relationship with her- or himself. All levels welcome. For yoga instructors, this workshop can be used for Yoga Alliance continuing education credits.
Each session includes poses (asana), breathing, (pranayama), hand dances (mudra), inner locks (bandha), mantras (simple sounds and words) and meditation (dharana). The sessions will build on each other and culminate in developing a plan for walking in the world with confidence and self-love. Sessions may be taken individually as well.
Individual Sessions: $55 each, (Sat Morning Session $35) $190 all 4 sessions
Hirschl’s book, Vital Yoga, will be available for purchase and autographs throughout the workshop.
Session I: Sat, 9:30 am–Noon: $35
Introduction to Yoga & Body Image
Introduction for all levels including beginners and seasoned practitioners. We will begin with connecting to the breath and setting intentions, and then move to poses. We’ll learn to train our minds to focus on the body and breath to witness thoughts. We’ll use basic core strength poses along with poses to build strength, flexibility and balance and simple meditation practices including to use in everyday life. We’ll discover what our personal mantras already are (what we say to ourselves now) and decide if we would like to change the mantra. We’ll conclude with a simple meditation practice.
Session II: Sat, 2–4:30 pm: $55
Core Strength and Mantra
We’ll focus on poses that build core strength and add inner locks and seals. We’ll add inversions to get a new perspective and then learn mantras that support our connection to True Self. We’ll use both active (yang) poses and more passive or receptive poses (yin) to work with strength of the body and mind. We’ll use mantra and meditation together to calm and open.
Session III: Sun, 9:30 am–Noon: $55
Pose & Breathing Practice for Strength and Clarity
We will warm up with poses and then practice breathing patterns called pranayama that both build intrinsic core strength and help the mind focus. We continue to work with mantras as well as mudras for shifting thought patterns and we will practice meditation techniques.
Session IV: Sun, 2–4:30 pm: $55
Creating Your Plan, Sadhana We Live
Allow this workshop to jumpstart your life and take the energy and insights home with you. We’ll develop the personal practice (sadhana) that works for you and if you’d like, form buddy groups or sangha because as the great ancient text, The Hatha Yoga Pradipika says, one of the keys to success in yoga is good company, and so who we associate with may well lay the foundation for happiness. You’ll leave this session with a warmed up body and opened and friendly mind.
