Designer Walter Knabe has gone from painting to designing wallcovering and fabrics. His latest endeavor includes handbags which are being produced in Indiana. Walter is making a personal appearance at Gallery 116 on November 8th from 6 – 8pm.

Walter first opened a studio nearly 30 years ago as a painter in New York City. His paintings quickly morphed into full-scale wallcoverings when he received a request to cover the walls of a high profile New York apartment with his heavily patterned paintings. Since then, his studio has also produced wallcoverings, fabrics and other home décor utilizing some of the same screen-printing techniques he developed while making fine art screen prints. Other items include hand made and licensed designs for bedding, wall coverings, stationery, and national event artwork to name a few.

For the past 15 years, the Walter Knabe Studios in Indianapolis has been a trusted resource for high profile collectors and interior designers around the globe who covet Knabe’s hand-crafted artwork and designs. Walter maintains residences in both New York City and Indianapolis where he lives with his wife and two daughters. He finds that his relationship with his family continues to offer the foundation for creating sanctuary at home and wanting to bring peace to the world through his art.
