The Swiss Wine Festival is now in its 41 st year and is held at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park off of Ferry St. in downtown Vevay, IN. (Switzerland County) This year’s theme is The Grape Get-Together.

The cost of adult admission is $4 person/per day (except for Thurs. when it’s free).Youth admission (ages 5-12) is $2 per youth/day. (Under age 5--free.) Parking is $3. Wine pavilion admission is $15 per person with free wine tastings and souvenir glass. The wine pavilion is not open on Thurs., but will be open Friday-Sunday. Twelve Indiana wineries are scheduled to appear at this year’s Swiss Wine Festival featuring over 100 Indiana wines.

The first festival was held in 1968, and included a flea market on the Courthouse lawn, grape stomping, and steintossen. Six years and thousands of people later, the festival was proclaimed “too big” and was discontinued. The festival was “reborn” in 1979 as the Swiss Alpine Festival. In 1997 the festival was moved to Paul Ogle Riverfront Park in Vevay, IN, to compensate for additional growth. It was renamed the Swiss Wine Festival.
