Matt Duncan -co-founder of Brackets for Good and Jeri Warner - executive director of Trusted Mentors talk fun fundrasing! Every March, Brackets For Good hosts single-elimination, bracket-style fundraising tournaments for local nonprofit organizations.
Brackets for Good, which provides web-based fundraising support for local nonprofit organizations. The Indy-based organization is capitalizing on the men’s college basketball buzz for the greater good again starting March 4 with hopes of beating its 2012 fundraising total of more than $34,000.
Here’s how it works: Teams (non-profits) are matched up on a traditional bracket layout. To advance, each team must earn more points (or donation dollars). All non-profits keep 100 percent of the donations they receive. The overall winner receives an additional grand prize of $5,000 from a local sponsor. This year’s starring lineup includes local non-profits Camp Tecumseh YMCA, Camptown, Families First, Freewheelin’ Community Bikes, Fountains of Hope, Girls on the Run Hamilton County, IPS Education Foundation, Jameson Camp, Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, Mental Health America of Greater Indianapolis, Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Mozel Sanders Foundation, Project Home Indy, Shepherd Community Center, Trusted Mentors and Youth Mentoring Initiative.
