Crime Stoppers is a not-for-profit organization that has been giving the citizens of Central Indiana a safe way to anonymously provide information about crime and criminals since 1985. More than 21,000 tips have been sent to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies helping solve thousands of crimes, apprehend thousands of dangerous criminals, recover over $4 million in stolen property and illicit drugs, and remove hundreds of guns from the streets. Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana has paid out nearly $700,000 in rewards for information leading to felony arrests and not a single tipster has ever been identified by Crime Stoppers.
Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana began in 1985 under the coordination of the Indianapolis Police Department and is administered by a private board of directors.
Our mission is to profile selected felony crimes and fugitives through a variety of local media partners and accept information on any felony crime or fugitive. We forward the information to the appropriate law enforcement agency for investigation. Rewards are based on various factors of the crime.
We treat our callers in a confidential and professional manner. We guarantee anonymity by never asking for or taking your name. We know you only by your assigned code number.
Tips to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana have led to the arrest of over 4,000 felony suspects and the recovery of close to five million dollars in property and illicit drugs. Rewards of close to $1,000,000 have been paid. All reward funds are donated by our board of directors aided by local business and concerned citizens, no tax dollars are used.
