Text Line for teens in crisis

Millions of teens are quietly suffering every day. They struggle with bullying, homophobia, suicidal thoughts and more.  They often feel alone and are reluctant to seek help from those around them.  Toll free hotlines exist and some teens do use them.

There's growing demand for crisis support through a medium that teens already use and trust: TEXT.

CRISIS TEXT LINE, a new, free, 24/7 text message hotline will connect teens in crisis quickly and privately with the support, counseling and resources critical to their well -being and safety.

CRISIS TEXT LINE is a startup subsidiary of the non-profit www.DoSomething.org , the largest organization for teens for social change in America. The idea to create Crisis Text Line emerged when DoSomething.org, which utilizes mobile marketing campaigns to connect with its user base, began receiving text messages back from teens seeking help.

How you can help:  CRISIS TEXT LINE launches this summer when the non-profit is funded. Now and through all of March, as part of its charitable giving program, jcp cares,JC Penney is inviting its customers in stores and online to round up their purchases to the nearest whole dollar and donate the difference to benefit.  You can also support the organization through the Facebook social game, WeTopia.

NANCY LUBLIN, founder and creator of CRISIS TEXT LINE and DRESS FOR SUCCESS, is available via satellite on Tuesday, March 5th to discuss this new support text system for teens.
