Beyond the Badge was begun 11 years ago as a result of the tragic death of Sheriff’s Deputy Jason M. Baker, who was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 17, 2001. Jason’s dad, Jerry Baker, along with Crown Hill Cemetery, joined together to honor Jason and all public safety professionals, and to raise funds for the Jason M. Baker Public Safety Scholarships.
This event includes a 5K Run & Walk for Individuals and Teams, a 1.5-mile Family Stroll, commemorative medals for 5K run age division winners, cash awards for the overall 5K winners, and special team awards. Refreshments are included for all registered participants, and special event t-shirts can be purchased with registration.
