American Senior Communities, the largest senior healthcare and housing provider in Indiana, has built a solid reputation of staying at the forefront of their industry.
ASC’s leadership has long been aware of the simple fact that to provide the best care, you need the best caregivers.
In response to the shortage of nurses in Indiana, American Senior Communities has expanded their support of caregiver staff in an unprecedented way by making it as easy as possible for staff members to continue their formal education while maintaining their current jobs.
The O2NE (Opportunities to Nursing Excellence) Program has given ASC employees, the majority of who are CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants), the opportunity to earn a diploma and become LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses). The program helps ASC caregiver staff achieve new levels of education and abilities, ultimately improving the entire healthcare system by encouraging and nurturing the development of new nurses.
Each of ASC’s communities statewide nominates candidates for the program and once qualified, they are sent to accredited college nursing programs fully paid for by ASC. A 30-hour work week with
40-hour pay and assistance with daily life, including childcare, are all part of the additional support provided. Unlike most companies, ASC asks for no employment commitment after the schooling is complete and graduates are free to use the education anywhere they choose.
