This year will mark the 21st annual Marsh Cookout on the Circle on Thursday, June 21, from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Rain date – Friday, June 22). About 4,000 Hoosiers are expected to enjoy lunch on Monument Circle, raising more than $19,000 to help send 750 underserved Scouts to Cub Scout and Boy Scout summer camp.
New this year to the Cookout is a Scout Delivery Service. Previously placed lunch orders of $25 or more, will be delivered to office buildings in a two block radius of Monument Circle, by Scouts in full uniform before 11 a.m.
This will be WISH –TV 8’s first year serving as the media partner for this event. WISH-TV personalities will be on hand, along with Scouts benefiting from the program, to serve as guest cooks.
Greg Ballard, Indianapolis mayor will make a proclamation and other city officials will participate in the day’s festivities. Registration materials will also be available for any adults or children interested in joining Scouting.
Tickets are on sale in advance at all Indianapolis Marsh supermarkets for $6 and will be available on-site at the cookout for $7. A special Friends and Family Package is available in advance this year for $30 and includes five lunch tickets.
Each meal includes a bratwurst or grilled chicken sandwich, potato salad, cookies and a drink. Also an additional sandwich can be purchased on site for $3.
