NEW DRAKE’S DANCES INTO INDY MARKET

Bluegrass Hospitality Group opens first Indiana property, bringing a popular Lexington, Ky., restaurant/bar concept to Indianapolis

Indianapolis – One of Indianapolis’ busiest retail destinations is now even livelier after the Dec. 20 opening of Drake’s , a hybrid restaurant, bar and dance club featuring a unique menu and a variety of craft beers.

Located at 3740 E. 82nd St., Drake’s promises to liven up the scene around Keystone at the Crossing and Castleton Mall by exuding its “Come Play” tagline.

The approximately 5,300-square-foot restaurant and bar features games like darts and mini shuffleboard, plus 24 flat screen TVs and a digital audio and video system that synchronizes music videos Thursdays through Saturdays from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. The exterior walls are retractable garage-type doors that remain open in nice weather, giving the bar an open and more festive atmosphere.

Not Your Typical Bar Food

Drake’s will offer more than 55 menu items for less than $15. A few of the house favorites, include:

·         Grilled Shrimp and Cheese – Griddle shrimp, fresh tomato and bacon adds a little play to this smoky cheddar grilled cheese on country white with a side of remoulade. ($8.99)

·         Minis – Choose from cheeseburgers, Hot Ham ‘n Swiss, Chicken Cordon Bluegrass, BLT, DRAKE’S Ale-battered Fried Fish, and Buffalo Chicken. Platters include three minis with fries or tots. ($7.40-$8.99)

·         Soft Tacos – Choose from Chicken Asada, Seared Filet tenderloin, Crispy Fish, Buffalo Chicken and Cajun Shrimp. Each platter of four tacos is served with sautéed onions and peppers, homemade salsa, refried beans, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream and fresh guacamole upon request. ($10.99-$12.99)

In addition to Drake’s house favorites, its affordable sushi menu is what sets the restaurant apart. All of Drake’s sushi is hand-rolled by skilled Asian sushi chefs, and each order is prepared individually using superior sushi-grade fish. The sushi menu includes nigiri and sashimi, a variety of rolls including Tempura Shrimp, Crab Rangoon Roll, Volcano Roll (crab, cucumber, avocado, spicy tuna and flying fish roe), and the popular Spicy Roll (avocado, cucumber, sesame seeds, and a choice of tuna, salmon, shrimp, yellow tail or white tuna), as well as pork, chicken, shrimp and spicy beef Japanese dumplings.

The two bars in Drake’s will serve up more than 24 craft beers on tap, plus bottles of mainstream brands, wine, mixed drinks and several specialty cocktails. One of Drake’s signatures is the 60-, 90- and 120-oz. beer taps that can be brought to the table, which are filled with a choice of beers on tap and accompanied by an ice float that keeps the beer cold.

Drake’s will be open 11:15 a.m.-midnight, Sunday through Wednesday and 11:15 a.m.-2 a.m., Thursday through Saturday.
