Megan McClanahan whips up an awarding winning pie recipe that takes the cake at Indy Pie Wars! Today on Indy Style Megan shows you how easy it is to make an incredible pie.
Fresh Plum and Strawberry pie
Crust...
2 1/2c flour
1/4c cold shortening
1 1/2 sticks cubed butter
1/4t salt
3-4 T fine sugar
1/2c ice water
Mix flour,salt, and sugar..then add shortening, cut in butter mixing with your hands or pastery cutter till crumbly. Add by spoonfulls ice water to for dough. Roll into a ball and knead a couple times. Divide in two, wrap with seran wrap and chill.
Filling...
Blend of plums (8-12) sliced
1quart fresh strawberries sliced
Juice of one lemon
1/2c granulated sugar
1/2c cornstarch
1T vanilla extract
1c godiva white chocolate chips
1/4 c chopped fresh mint
Mix all ingredients together in large bowl. Cover and let sit for 30min. Pour into unbaked pie crust. Top with second crust optional. Bake at 350° about 50min to an hour. Checking toward end. Cool and enjoy!
