Chef Daniel Orr, FARMbloomington, celebrates the Olympics with a culinary marathon of British cooking. From breakfast through tea time they will offer Welsh Cakes, Devon cream tea and Northern Ireland style soda bread.
FARMbloomington and chef Daniel Orr will celebrate the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London by featuring dishes inspired by the cuisine from regions of the United Kingdom for the duration of the games – July 27 to Aug. 12. Come into FARM from morning till night to enjoy British dishes during the games!
From breakfast to tea time each day, FARMbloomington will offer Welsh Cakes from Swansea, Wales ($2.50 ea.), Northern Ireland-inspired Soda Bread Toast with butter ($2.50, whole loaf $7) and Devon Cream Tea, which dates back to the 11 th century in England’s Devon County ($6.50).
During lunchtime, homemade Lincolnshire Sausages, popular in the English county of the same name, will be served with the British classics Mushy Peas andtheir version of mashed potatoes – Mash ($12).
Guests can look for Liverpool's famous Scouse ($5), a meat and vegetable stew that was also common on British ships in days gone by, and Blackburn's lamb, onion and potato dish, Lancashire Hotpot ($7), to show up during the week on FARM’s daily-changing small plates menu.
Poached Trout with Pease Pudding ($22), the northern England dish that inspired the “Pease Porridge Hot” children’s rhyme, will be included on the dinner menu. Guests can also try Haggis ($18), a savory Scottish pudding for which Chef Orr has become well-known. For dessert, pastry chef Nina will prepare Derbyshire-style Bakewell Tarts. ($6.50).
Each Sunday during the games, British Yorkshire Pudding, accompanied by Sarah’s Cress Creek Salad and Homegrown Horseradish Cream, will be paired with FARM’s Sunday Brunch Roast Prime Rib of Beef special. Guests who want the special should plan to arrive early (Prime Rib Queen Cut $22, King Cut $26).
