The hobbit: An unexpected Journey is the prequel to "Lord of the Rings"  the first installment in director Peter Jackson's planned trilogy based upon JRR Tolkien's classic novel.

Harshest criticism is from an UK writer  who gave it.... two out of five stars....said the film is "so stuffed with extraneous faff and flummery... That it often barely feels like Tolkien novel at all - more a dire, fan-written internet tribute".

Other critic says on a more positive note says ...."It offers an enormous amount of fun, energy and a bold sense of purpose",
Rolling stone magazine says...."it could have been shorter."
