How to prevent getting your pet sick

Keep the bag on your pet food for one cycle, meaning when you finish a bag do not throw it away.  Keep it until you are finished with the second bag and then throw away the first bag and store the new empty bag and so on.

That way if you do becomes ill, or yourself, you have a bag containing the batch and date codes to reference.  Some of these illnesses go back several months!  On that note, a lot of people love to dump their pet’s food into a bin.  That actually can cause trouble because you then lock in more air with the food.

The best way to store pet food is in the original bag and just roll the top down to the level of food. You then can place the entire bag in your bin, if you would like.

This recall has involved at least 14 premium brands of pet food, causing entire plans to be shut down as they work to discover the source of the Salmonella.   The brands are:

·       4Health

·       Apex

·       Canidae

·       Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul

·       Country Value

·       Diamond

·       Diamond Naturals

·       KirklandSignature

·       Natural Balance

·       Premium Edge

·       Professional

·       Solid Gold

·       Taste of the Wild

·       Wellness
