"Tinsel & Tails Holiday Petacular"

The Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC) will be hosting its seventh annual Tinsel & Tails Holiday Petacular on Thursday, November 29th at Ritz Charles in Carmel.  Tinsel & Tails is one of the Humane Society’s largest fundraisers of the year.  The event highlights the most touching adoption stories and unforgettable animal survivor tales of 2012.

Tinsel & Tails is open to the public.  It includes a reception with hors d’oeuvres, a silent and live auction, and dinner followed by a special heartwarming presentation.  Following the presentation, guests are invited to meet the cats and dogs who were highlighted in the presentation.

This year’s event is presented by the Lumina Foundation, Kahlo Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, Distinctive Diamonds, WZPL 99.5 and WFMS My 107.9.

The funds raised by Tinsel & Tails will help cover the cost of the thousands of abandoned, unwanted, injured and sick animals that come to the Humane Society every year. “Our need has never been greater,” said Humane Society for Hamilton County Executive Director Rebecca Stevens. “The economy is still taking its toll on the family pet as the number of surrendered animals continues to rise. Sadly, many of those displaced are senior pets who often need medical care and quickly succumb to illness in a shelter environment. The funds raised at events like Tinsel & Tails are what make it possible for us to give every animal their best possible chance to be rehomed.”

Beyond helping with medical costs, the funds are also used for everything from life-saving medications and surgeries to vaccinations, heartworm treatments, food and heat for the facility which serves as both the animal control facility for Hamilton County and the Humane Society for Hamilton County. The organization, which does not euthanize adoptable or treatable animals for time or space, receives approximately 30 percent of its funding from Hamilton County tax payers. The rest is made up of individual donations, adoption & service fees, corporate sponsorship, grants and fundraising events like Tinsel & Tails.  The Humane Society for Hamilton County, which currently has nearly 500 dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens in their care, never closes its doors to the public or Hamilton County animals in need regardless of space or financial constraints.

Tickets to Tinsel & Tails are available for $80 per individual, $310 for a half-table of four, or $620 for a table of eight.
