Ingredients:
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 1 ½ lbs turkey, fresh ground (smoked deli turkey is fine too)
- 1 ½ lbs Italian sausage (remove from casing)
- ¾ ea onion, diced
- ½ cup celery, diced
- 2 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
- 2 cups beans, cooked (your favorite is best)
- ½ cup jalapeno, pickled (less if using fresh)
- 2 tbs. chili powder
- 1 tbs. cumin, ground
- 2 tsp. coriander
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. crushed red pepper
- ½ tsp. cayenne pepper
- 48 oz chicken broth (less if desired thicker chili)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- ¼ cup cilantro
- To taste salt and pepper
Directions:
- Heat heavy bottom sauce pot on medium high. Add oil and cook meats.
- Add onion, celery, and cook 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Add tomato, beans, jalapeno and spices. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the broth and simmer 30 minutes.
- Add the heated heavy cream and simmer another 10 minutes. Stir in cilantro and season with salt and pepper.
- Can be garnished with tortillas, cheese, cilantro, etc.
- If thicker chili is desired, whisk in a mixture of ¼ cup water and 1 ½ T cornstarch. (slurry) Add this at the end off cooking and simmer 5 minutes.
