ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - An Anderson man is under arrest after setting his girlfriend on fire.
38-year-old Jason Webb is charged with Criminal Recklessness after he set fire to the mother of his 2-year-old daughter during a domestic dispute.
Anderson police say the incident started as an argument between Webb and his girlfriend, 27-year-old Ashley Sanders.
According to the police report, during the course of the argument, some of Webb’s clothing was packed into bags, as he was intending to leave the residence.
The victim, in an effort to prevent Webb from leaving, allegedly tossed his clothing into the back yard of their house, with the threat of setting them on fire.
Police say Webb took his clothing and threw them into the family swimming pool.
The clothing was retrieved by Sanders and she reportedly place them in a fire pit before going back into the house.
The police report goes on to say while Sanders was in the house, Webb took a bottle of gasoline and doused his clothing.
When Sanders returned to the backyard, police say she sat down on top of the clothing, unaware of what Webb had just done.
Sander's pajama bottoms were soaked with gasoline and that’s when police say Webb took out a lighter and lit the clothing, engulfing Sanders in a large ball of fire.
Sanders was taken to a local Anderson hospital by a friend where she was treated for second degree burns to her lower extremities and back side.
Webb was arrested and is being held in the Madison County Detention Center
