Depression can take hold of unemployed

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - 24-Hour News 8 has spoken extensively with those on the front lines of helping the unemployed and we've learned that serious depression is a growing problem. For example, the 2-1-1 call center has seen a marked increase in the number of suicidal callers since 2005.

Thursday we talked with Chris Burd, a woman all too familiar of the emotional toll of financial hardship.

Chris Burd is busy. The mother of four also runs the family business. The new added role of auto dealer executive is one she has embraced but neither wanted nor expected.

Her husband, Rich, ran Burd Ford until last fall. Police officers broke the news of his suicide one early November morning.
