BARGERSVILLE, Ind. - Bargersville firefighters want to remind Hoosiers: Johnson County has a "Burn Ban" in place.

Dry crops ... thirsty vegetation ... and light wind create the perfect conditions for a brush fire.  We told you about it last week when County Commissioners issued the ban.  They said it won't be lifted until the area gets measurable rainfall.

When asked, how much danger is a discarded cigarette in a dry field?  "That's all it would take.  We've had a lot of mulch fires as a result of that.  And it just takes a cigarette to be thrown out and discarded and it would probably start a large fire if it went unnoticed," said Michael Herron from the Bargersville Fire Department.

Bargersville firefighters say all fires they've extinguished this holiday weekend have been small, and most people have been mindful of the burn ban.
