One day after parting ways with Defensive Coordinator Ron Meeks, the Indianapolis Colts are closing in on hiring his replacement.
24-Hour News 8 has learned tonight that Larry Coyer will be the team's choice.
Coyer has most recently been the assistant head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, following a successful run as the Defensive Coordinator of the Denver Broncos.
Denver ranked in the top 4 defenses in yards per game allowed under Coyer in 2003 and 2004.
In addition, the Broncos ranked 6th in scoring defense during his four years as defensive coordinator.
Coyer has 44 years of coaching experience in both college and the pros. His college coaching career, includes stops at Ohio State, Iowa, Pitt, and UCLA among others.
