NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - More details have emerged regarding last Friday's scuffle in a holding area outside a Hamilton County courtroom. A detective says he spoke with Joshua Lindsey, the man accused of injuring a deputy, grabbing his gun and sending fear through the Hamilton County Government Center.
Probation Officer Michael Fiebelkorn was back at work Wednesday but he didn't want to talk about last Friday. He's named in the charges against 31-year-old Joshua Lindsey. Lindsey is charged with three counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, and attempted escape. One of his targets that day was Fiebelkorn.
But Lindsey's real target appears to have been Detective Robert Baker. Scott McKinney from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department told the court about an interview he did with Lindsey following the fracas.
"He stated inmate Lindsey said to Detective Baker 'You were my target. I was coming for you. I know where you live'," said McKinney.
McKinney also told the court that Lindsey told Deputy Daniel Trowbridge to stay down. The charging information indicates Lindsey intended to use Trowbridge as a shield.
"He said Deputy Trowbridge was trying to be a hero, wouldn't listen, kept trying to get up to fight with him," said McKinney.
There was a hearing at the courthouse on the additional charges against Lindsey but he was not present. He appeared in front of a camera from the Hamilton County Jail, which is customary. However he was wearing a yellow suit, which 24-Hour News 8 was told means he is a high-risk offender and he's headed to the Department of Correction to be held until he has to come back to court.
Prosecutor Sonia Leerkamp said there is videotape of the struggle between Lindsey and Trowbridge.
Wednesday, the court set an April trial for Lindsey and set a half million dollar-bond. If found guilty on the additional charges, Lindsey will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars. Prosecutor Leerkamp admits that's what she's after.
"My overall feeling is he has very little remorse about anything he did that day," said Leerkamp.
