Former NFL MVP Steve McNair has been shot and killed.

Titans owner Bud Adams confirmed the quarterback's death in a brief statement released Saturday.  Adams called him "one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl."

Investigators say officers also found a woman dead at the scene, but are not yet releasing any more details.

McNair spent 13 seasons in the NFL, the majority with the Tennessee Titans, before announcing his retirement in April 2008.

He spent his last two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. Steve McNair was married and had 4 sons.  He was 36 years old.
