INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Department of Public Works had crews out overnight preparing for the snow. Thirty-six salt truck drivers hit Indianapolis streets around 3 a.m. Sunday morning. They targeted bridges and intersections for morning traffic.
Just north of the metro area, slick roads contributed to several crashes in surrounding counties. In Madison County, officers say they worked a fatality crash in Anderson when a car left an icy roadway, and collided with a tree. State Troopers reported several slide-offs and accidents along I-69 in Delaware and Grant Counties Sunday morning.
A full shift of salt truck drivers will be back on Indianapolis roadways at 11 p.m. Sunday night, with plenty of time to get salt down before Monday's rush hour.
