INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Along with basketball the Big Ten is offering help to its unemployed students and alumni.
The Big Ten Career Expo took place Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m .at Union Station in downtown Indianapolis.
“The networking has been key. I think anytime you are part of the Big Ten and the Big Ten schools you gain that networking experience from all the schools and I think that has helped,” said Erika Austin, a graduate of Indiana University.
The expo was only open to current students and alumni of schools included in the Big Ten Conference which include Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
Employers had openings for internships and full-time jobs.
Those who attend were be able to update and print resumes at a Cyber Café set up at Union Station.
“Companies were finding us even if we weren’t reaching out to be here so I think that’s a sign that the economy is improving and people are starting to hire again,” said Donna Imus Project Director for the Career Expo.
