Man killed in industrial accident

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - One person has been killed in an industrial accident on the east side.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday at World Media Group located at 6737 E. 30th St. in Indianapolis.

A worker was inside of a trash compactor when the machine was turned on by someone. That person was unaware the worker was inside.

In a police report, the victim has been identified as 41-year-old Hugo Ramirez-Arreola.

Police say this was an accident and no charges are expected.

World Media Group specializes in making DVDs, gift cards, and hotel key cards.

According to OSHA’s website, no past workplace violations were found at World Media Group.

World Media Group released the following statement Wednesday evening:

We at World Media Group, Inc. would like to express our condolences to the family that experienced the loss of their loved one today in a tragic accident.  No World Media Group employees were injured or involved.  A sub-contractor of a leasing company was fatally injured during the performance of repair to the leasing company's equipment.  We are respecting the wishes of the family and the police department and will not release any further information regarding the accident.
