INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman says that a
telecommunications reform bill passed by the General Assembly three
years ago is responsible for a billion dollar investment in Indiana
by AT&T.
Lt. Gov. Skillman joined AT&T executives to mark the
milestone Wednesday morning.
The communications company said it will continue to expand in
Indiana with 35 new cell sites that will deliver wireless broadband
to areas that include Muncie, Anderson, Bloomington, and Columbus.
"Just as Indiana has been a leader in transportation
infrastructure, we're a leader in communications infrastructure and
that's thanks in large part to AT&T. We appreciate their
investment," said Lt. Gov. Skillman.
Skillman pointed out that the 2006 law also prompted
investments by smaller communications companies in rural areas.
