INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - There hasn't been much of an explosion in fireworks sales locally this year.According to retailers, shoppers have been slow to make purchases.
Shoppers said they are waiting to purchase fireworks when they are on sale.
Courtney Smith of TNT Fireworks said TNT Fireworks are already offering discounted fireworks.
"We have a lot of deals like buy one get three free, we have coupons for five dollars off 50 dollar sales," said Smith.
According to Ed Seib of USA Fireworks, customers will not cut out fireworks purchases entirely this summer.
"People have gone through and thought about it and saved in other areas, but they are still going to come and get the fireworks I think," said Seib.
One local fireworks company is having a give away that includes the chance to win a pickup truck.
Fireworks retailers said they believe fireworks' long shelf-life will allow them to sell the products again next year if sales remain down this summer.
