Seymour, Ind. (WISH) - Up to 200 new Hoosier jobs are on their way to the Cummins, Inc. Seymour Engine Plant, Lt. Governor Becky Skillman announced Friday.

Skillman joined Executives from Cummins to announce the expansion of its High-Horsepower Technical Center and engine product line in Seymour.

The construction for the 28,500 square-foot expansion almost doubles the current engineering footprint in the facility.

Skillman bragged on the company, calling it a homegrown Indiana company known around the globe. She said she is proud that Cummins is able to supply high-wage, high-tech jobs in southern Indiana.

Mark Gerstle, vice president and chief administrative officer, is also eager to start the expansion, saying, “Cummins is excited to be able to strengthen its presence in Indiana and provide more good jobs in our home region.” Cummins plans to hire engineers and mechanics immediately as the technical center’s expansion is scheduled to begin right away and be completed by mid-2011.
