TIPTON, Ind. (WISH) - A Colorado-based company that had plans to fill a vacant building in Tipton is shutting down.
Tipton County Commissioner Jane Harper said Thursday that Abound Solar was closing down in Colorado because it failed to find a buyer for the company.
It’s been about two years since President Obama announced that solar panel maker Abound received a loan from the Department of Energy for the Tipton County location.
“Obviously this is sad news for Tipton County and after such great efforts were made to land this company, it is certainly disappointing to see such an endeavor come to an end instead of coming to fruition, however I am still hopeful for the future of green energy in our county,” Harper said.
County officials plan to work with the owner of the vacant building to find another tenant.
