INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Two job fairs are going on around Indiana Tuesday. Indiana Senator Evan Bayh will hold his 7th annual job fair in downtown Indianapolis.
Bayh's job fair gets underway at 9 a.m. at IUPUI. More than 60 local organizations will be on hand for the event. Senator Bayh says an estimated 1,600 job opportunities will be available and many area companies looking to hire will be present.
Job training and employment assistance services will also be provided to job seekers. This job fair comes on the heels of news that jobless benefits dropped to 550,000 last week.
The number is much lower than analysts expected...indicating layoffs are easing. Organizers say this job fair is a chance for Hoosiers to connect with local businesses now looking to hire.
This job fair will also benefit entrepreneurs. Small business owners looking to grow their business will be able to talk to experts who will help them seek capital to grow.
The Senator’s job fair runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in Room 450 at the Campus Center of IUPUI.
Congressman Mike Pence is holding his 6th annual job fair Tuesday in Muncie. It will take place at Ball State's Worthen Arena.
It runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
